HiveGo started as a personal problem we saw around us. A lot of our friends and honestly ourselves at times were becoming more socially anxious and less willing to try new things. The more time people spent on social media, the less they seemed to push themselves in the real world. People wanted to grow, but no one was holding them accountable.

We decided to build something to change that.

Shanin is an engineering student and Tito is a biology student, and we both care a lot about growth socially, professionally, and personally. We wanted a way to keep each other accountable and actually follow through on things that push us outside our comfort zones.

So we built HiveGo.

HiveGo is built around challenges and accountability. You create a group with your friends, set daily or weekly challenges, and post proof when you complete them. Your group can see your progress, comment, and push you to stay consistent. The idea is that social pressure in a positive way helps people actually do the things they say they want to do.

You can think of it like if Strava and Headspace had a baby, but for life challenges. Social, professional, and adventurous challenges that help you grow.

Building HiveGo was a big learning experience for us. We used Firebase for the backend, GitHub for version control, and built the interface using modern web tools so it works on both mobile and desktop. One of the biggest challenges was that neither of us are full time software developers, so we had to learn a lot as we went and figure things out by building.

More than anything, this project taught us that most people do not need more motivation. They need accountability and a community. HiveGo is our attempt to build that.
