Inspiration
We wanted to make an application where students could record in a mood journal everyday about how the student is feeling such as negative/positive emotions they were experiencing. Our mission is to build awareness of mental health issues, and we thought writing things down can be an outlet that can help students.
What it does
Hive is a Flutter mobile application used to build awareness around mental health among students. Using sentiment analysis, Hive’s smart journal allows users to better understand their mood and provides resources to engage students on improving their own health outcomes.
How we built it
The user must sign up or log in to their account to access their journal logs and their overall moodboard of the week. We use Natural Language Processing for each of the journal entries to perform sentiment analysis to determine the user’s overall mood.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge we faced was the steep learning curve in a short amount of time. Most of our team members had little to no experience with using Flutter, mobile app development, and natural language processing. To overcome this, we used online resources to help guide us on developing our app.
