A common theme found in online dating is individuals wanting to get as many matches as quickly as possible, often compromising the compatibility of the users. We wanted to find a way to maximize the quality of these pairings in a fun, and more competitive web environment. Our solution? A Bachelor/Bachelorette style dating site which, while still including quick match features found in apps like Tinder and Bumble, takes this up a level by forming groups out of these matched users to then compete to conclude the most compatible match.
What it does
Hive is an online dating platform which allows users to create or enter a "Hive" where, ultimately, users compete to win over one individual's heart. Each Hive is comprised of a creator and 10 competitors. The creator narrows down the search by sending out personalized questions to the Hive and analyzing their answers; eliminating one competitor each round.
How I built it
We used Figma to come up with a design, then implemented it using React for front end, NodeJS for backend and the database is hosted by Cockroach Cloud and accessed with PostgreSQL.

What I learned
What's next for Hive
Some next steps would be to make the UI design a bit nicer and perhaps optimize our table management.
