About HITOGOTO

HITOGOTO was inspired by a simple problem: it is easy to forget the small but meaningful details about the people in our lives. Birthdays, shared memories, past conversations, gifts, promises, and important events often live across notes, calendars, messages, or memory alone. I wanted to build an app that helps people keep those connections organized in one thoughtful place.

What I Built

HITOGOTO is a personal relationship and event tracking app. Users can save people, organize them with tags, record important events, and quickly capture notes before they are forgotten. The app also includes Apple Watch support, so users can capture moments even when they are away from their phone.

The core idea is:

$$ \text{Better Relationships} = \text{People} + \text{Memories} + \text{Timely Reminders} $$

How I Built It

I built HITOGOTO with SwiftUI and SwiftData for a native iOS experience. The app uses a structured model layer for people, events, tags, and quick notes. I also added WatchConnectivity so the Apple Watch app can send captured events back to the iPhone.

For monetization and feature access, I integrated RevenueCat. This helped me learn how subscription-based features can be managed in a production-style app.

What I Learned

While building this project, I learned how to design a SwiftUI app with multiple feature areas, manage persistent data with SwiftData, and connect an iPhone app with a watchOS companion app. I also learned more about app architecture, state management, purchase flows, and designing user interfaces that stay simple even as the app grows.

Challenges

One challenge was keeping the app structure clean as more features were added. People, events, tags, quick capture, paywall logic, and watch communication all needed to work together without becoming tangled.

Another challenge was designing the app around real human behavior. Relationship tracking should feel helpful, not complicated. I had to think carefully about how to make capturing information fast, while still making the stored information easy to browse later.

Reflection

HITOGOTO helped me understand that software can support not only productivity, but also personal connection. Building it taught me how technical decisions and product design choices both shape the final user experience.
