Who are we?
Bike-sharing operators have recently been struggling to keep their businesses running. Here at Hitchcycle, we believe that bike-sharing is the future. We have developed this app to help riders get a free ride, help bike-sharing operators streamline operating costs and help the government maintain their beautiful cities. How? Here is our story.
What’s the problem?
Due to naturally unequal riding patterns and the fact that riders park bikes indiscriminately, operators and governments fork out significant costs to manually re-distribute bikes or to park them properly. Riders and pedestrians experience inconvenience as bikes clog up walkways at some spots while few bikes are found at others. Because of how unevenly the bikes are distributed, operators also dump thousands of bikes onto the streets for increased market share.
Currently, the solutions are to regulate, but what if we can innovate instead?
Value to our partners
For riders, we bring free rides and better distributed bikes.
For governments, we clear the streets of indiscriminately parked bikes and unsightly heaps of bikes, all without the daily pain of receiving complaints and administering fines.
For operators, we re-distribute their bikes automatically, which helps them save operating costs, avoid fines and reduce the need to dump bikes into the market. If this is not enough, our appeal to riders and government — the two biggest partners of bike operators — translates naturally into the reason why operators should work with us.
Features
Hitchcycle comes with two features. The first feature is catered to all the commuters out there. If you are looking to get somewhere and you see a bike parked indiscriminately along the walkway, you can use our app to unlock that bike and ride to the nearest bus stop or MRT station for free*.
The second feature is catered to all our cycling enthusiasts and commuters! If you are looking to cycle long distances, be it for fun or to get to a faraway destination, the second feature is for you! This allows you to unlock a bike parked within a crowded bike lot (red) and travel to any destination of your choosing, as long as the end point is within a less crowded bike lot(green).
*Users can only end their trip if they lock the bike in a yellow bike lot located near bus stops, MRT stations and residential areas. To prevent abuse of our system, users are only entitled to a free ride for the first 30minutes, thereafter any additional usage will be charged to their respective bike accounts (e.g. ofo, mobike).
