Inspiration

Creating a service that allows college students to safely and inexpensively find buddies to carpool with.

What it does

Connects students across campus to find a buddy to share a ride with. You can find events around your area with people already carpooling to, or create your own post for an event of your own where you wish to find additional buddies.

How we built it

We used a combination of java css html node js, Vercel. Windsurf allowed us to connect these languages, and then Vercel hosted for free.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into the challenge of being able to connect all of our flows in an easy way. Especially, being able to connect events to individual posts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to create a user friendly platform that is appealing to our target population of college students, as well as creating a service that allows students to not feel stuck in their dorms. Students now have an option that is not restricted by cost factors.

What we learned

We learned how to create an interaction skeleton using Figma to start our design process.

What's next for Hitch

Next, we wish to implement a business model that takes 2% commission on every rideshare group created using Hitch. We also wish to create a feature where users are able to see how busy certain areas are, based on events happening that day, so they have an idea of what type of transportation they should use for best efficiency.
