Inspiration
Our inspiration was Radio Rebel. As funny as it is, the way that Radio Rebel had inspired her listeners through her voice alone had inspired us as well. We hope that we could help others in a similar way, so we created a podcast. As for the website, we wanted to share our resource for others to find. Many people say that to start getting something out there, you start with a website. And since we were given the opportunity, why don't we start one today?
What it does
This website has our podcast embedded into the page. So you can listen to all of the podcast on the website. In addition, there are other resources for learning about history, and even a feedback page so we can improve in the future!
How we built it:
This project was made from scratch by us. Outside of the googled references, we had learned how to make the menu, the icon, etc. all by ourselves. We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to create this website.
Challenges we ran into:
Making the dropdown menu next to the regular buttons was a bit of a struggle. It was a bit hard to understand at first, but eventually it all worked out! Outside of that, we also had a problem where the logo refused to format correctly, but then we found a missing character, fixed it, and it worked again. Definitely a headache there.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
The background image and importing the audio clips from the podcast was the most fun to see come to life. Especially learning what overflow:auto was for the feedback page, and allowing the background image to scroll on the home page. Small features, but super fun!
What we learned:
How to make a website and history. We learned a lot of things from scratch, so all of us learned a lot about all three languages.
What's next for History for Humanity Website::
We plan to make it more aesthetically pleasing, adding study guides and creating more online resources like videos. Make the feedback page actually work properly, and hopefully, possibly in the far future, add animations to the website. Maybe some eastereggs too!
