Inspiration

It is always difficult to make big decisions by yourself. Whether that's changing the entire backend a few hours before the hackathon deadline or choosing which university to go to, it is always good to have different points of view.

What it does

Give it your problem/dilemma at hand, and it will pull from a sourced database of historical figures and actions they took, applying it to your situation.

How we built it

A Jev classifier chooses which one is most relatable to you and and an LLM reframes the historical figures' choices into how you can use their framework and mindset in your problem. Each person on the team took on a different part of the project and we merged at the end on github.

Challenges we ran into

Some historical figures and their actions are difficult to source, so we limited the number of figures to 27 for now. There are also risks of it giving bad advice/leading people down the wrong path, so we made sure it gives at least two different perspectives on the problem and two different paths it can go down, so the user has to ultimately make the decision.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Not only did we make a web app, we also made it into both a Claude and ChatGPT skill that you can download and use, without the need of our website.

What we learned

Collaboration - trusting our teammates, the use of Jev the classifier.

What's next for Historical Figures

First and foremost, obviously expanding the database to include more historical figures, not just modern history either, we're thinking of ancient figures like Platos, Aristotle etc. We also look forward to including more features such as Chinese integration and perhaps sharing
