Inspiration
During my internship at Twitter, I had to go through a background verification process by a third party vendor initiated by Twitter. This process was same for my teammate who interned at Amazon. The verification process is a time consuming process which took almost 4 weeks to be completed. Due to this we were in the fear of being impacted by the work authorization process. To solve this time consuming process we were inspired to build this project.
What it does
On our HistroChain platform, we register organizations and educational institutions. Candidates can also register on their own. On our platform, we refer to educational institutions like colleges, schools, and businesses as organizations. We maintain a blockchain to preserve the educational and employment history of candidates. Organizations have the right to ask candidates for permission before entering a record in their histories. A candidate can accept this request generally when he/she has accepted the admission offer or employment offer. So this will be a chain of history for a candidate. When a organization wants to verify a candidates history they can verify his history on HistroChain platform. This will drastically reduce the time it takes for the verification process and also save money for organizations.
How we built it
We use react for frontend, web3.js to interface the frontend to ethereum blockchian.
Challenges we ran into
Organizations have to be verified because only a verified organization should be allowed to write on a candidate history.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
There are enormous use-cases which can be solved using HistroChain. For example- we can maintain the address history of a candidate.
What's next for HistroChain
Feature to allow organizations to enter certifications awarded to candidates. Feature to allow organizations to enter prizes awarded for hackathons to candidates.
