Inspiration
The film was inspired by the idea of a fragile summer promise that continues to echo across time, even as reality shifts around us. I wanted to capture the feeling of longing, loneliness, and the quiet courage it takes to chase something that may already be gone. HIROSHI grew from a mix of personal memory, dreamlike imagery, and the expressive power of AI tools.
What it does
HIROSHI is an AI-enhanced short film that follows a girl as she crosses between dream and reality to chase a fading summer promise. It blends emotional storytelling with surreal, simulation-like visuals to immerse viewers in a world where memory, time, and longing intertwine.
How we built it
HIROSHI was created using a hybrid workflow of AI video tools such as Hailuo, Pixverse, Midjourney, Kaiber, and ChatGPT for narrative development. Visual layers were composited and edited in a traditional editing pipeline. The process involved blending dreamlike AI-generated scenes with realistic emotional storytelling.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was managing long AI-generated sequences with large file sizes and balancing visual quality with practical upload limits. We also faced the difficulty of keeping a consistent emotional tone while blending different AI tools and visual styles.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of how the film captures a fragile emotional world using AI tools without losing its human heart. The successful blending of surreal visuals, narrative pacing, and a strong thematic core feels like a meaningful step forward for our creative team, Ecliptica.
What we learned
We learned how powerful AI tools can be when combined with traditional editing and clear emotional storytelling. We also learned the importance of file management, format control, and planning shorter versions for competitions.
What's next for HIROSHI - A Promise Carried Across Time
We plan to develop a refined 3–10 minute festival cut, explore additional scenes from Sorano’s journey, and continue expanding the emotional universe of HIROSHI as part of our long-term Ecliptica projects.
