Inspiration

A little background behind the idea, we as students spend months practicing algorithmic-style coding tests to land our dream job. However, there remains a massive disconnect between these tests and the actual job. So our group of friends sat together and brainstormed solutions for this problem. And what we came up with was something that would benefit both recruiters and candidates.

What it does

Hirewolf is a online testing platform that caters to all the needs of a recruiter! Our app boasts a wide range of problems which conventional tests do not have. The dynamic execution allows users to visualize what they are doing and see their output with zero latency.

Our questions are set by experts and professionals which test your real-knowledge and experience about a topic rather than redundant theoretical concepts one would never use in the actual job. This allows for candidates that have the skills for the job to get selected.

How we built it

We built the App using React, Tailwind CSS, Nodejs, and Codesandbox.io. We deployed the app to Google Cloud.

Challenges we ran into

The most challenging part was definitely the creativity. Many online testing platforms already exist, but we had to find a way to make ours unique. Our app uses a sandbox and lets candidates play with their code. Finding a good sandbox testing service and integrating it with the app took some time. Luckily codesandbox.io came to the rescue!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the effort all of us as a team put into making this project happen. We are also proud of the elegant UI and well integrated backend.

What we learned

We learned about Tailwind CSS and how much it makes life easier. We attribute all our UI/UX success to Tailwind! It was also our first time using Google Cloud to deploy an application, and that's something we are very proud of even if we don't end up winning the Best Hack using GCP prize!

What's next for HIREWOLF

We intend to allow candidates to practice various questions to hone their skills and perform better in their jobs. We also will have challenges which various companies can post or real-world problems that they are facing. There is a need to change the existing norms of job interviews, so as to benefit both the company and the individual and our vision is to have a product that pioneers in that journey.
