The Problem
Finding a job is difficult enough. Understanding why your resume isn't getting responses shouldn't be.
Many job seekers submit the same resume to dozens of positions without knowing whether their resume clearly communicates their skills, matches the role, or is optimized for Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).
Most people also don't know what recruiters are actually looking for when they review a resume.
This creates a frustrating cycle:
Apply → Wait → Get rejected → Change nothing → Apply again.
We built Hireva to break that cycle.
What is Hireva?
Hireva is an AI-powered resume improvement platform that helps job seekers build, analyze, and improve their resumes.
Instead of simply generating a resume, Hireva gives users actionable feedback about what's working, what's missing, and what they can improve.
Users can upload or create their resume and receive an analysis covering areas such as:
Resume structure and formatting Skills and keywords Work experience Achievements and impact Professional summary ATS compatibility Job-specific relevance Areas that need improvement
The goal is simple: help users turn their resume from a document that lists what they have done into a document that clearly communicates why they are a strong candidate.
How It Works
- Build or Upload Your Resume
Users can start with an existing resume or build one using Hireva.
- Analyze Your Resume
Hireva evaluates the resume and identifies strengths, weaknesses, missing information, and opportunities for improvement.
- Understand Your Score
The resume receives a score that gives users a quick way to understand how strong their current resume is.
Rather than giving users an unexplained number, Hireva breaks the result down into actionable areas.
- Improve Your Resume
Users can use the feedback to improve their content, strengthen their achievements, improve keyword coverage, and make their resume more relevant.
- Score It Again
After making changes, users can analyze their resume again and see whether they've improved.
This creates an iterative workflow:
Build → Analyze → Improve → Score → Repeat
Why We Built It
We were inspired by how difficult the job search can be, especially when applicants don't know why they aren't getting interviews.
A resume is often the first thing standing between a candidate and an interview. Yet many talented people struggle to communicate their experience effectively on paper.
We wanted to create a tool that gives job seekers the kind of feedback they would normally need a recruiter, career coach, or resume specialist to provide.
The idea behind Hireva is not to replace the candidate's experience.
It's to help them communicate that experience better.
What We Learned
Building Hireva taught us that resume optimization is more complicated than simply matching keywords.
A good resume needs to balance several things at once.
It needs to be readable by ATS software, understandable to recruiters, relevant to the specific role, and compelling enough to communicate the candidate's impact.
We also learned that AI is most useful when it turns analysis into actionable recommendations.
Instead of simply telling someone that their resume is weak, the system should help explain why and what they can do about it.
How We Built It
Hireva was built as a modern web application with a focus on speed, usability, and an iterative AI-powered workflow.
The frontend was built with Next.js and React, with Tailwind CSS used for the interface.
The application processes resume information and uses AI-powered analysis to evaluate the content and provide personalized recommendations.
The architecture was designed around a simple workflow so that users can quickly move from uploading their resume to understanding what needs to change.
Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was determining how to turn qualitative resume feedback into useful, measurable scores.
A resume cannot be judged purely by the number of keywords it contains.
We therefore focused on combining multiple dimensions of resume quality rather than treating ATS optimization as a simple keyword-counting problem.
Another challenge was making AI feedback useful rather than generic.
A recommendation such as "make your resume more specific" isn't particularly helpful.
The system needs to identify where the resume can be improved and provide enough context for the user to take action.
What's Next
We want Hireva to become a complete career optimization platform rather than just a resume analyzer.
Future improvements include:
More advanced job description matching Personalized resume recommendations Cover letter generation Job application tracking Resume versions tailored to different roles More detailed ATS analysis Interview preparation Career recommendations based on a user's skills and experience Better analytics for tracking resume improvements
Ultimately, we want Hireva to help job seekers throughout the entire journey from "I'm looking for a job" to "I got the interview."
