💡 Inspiration

Hiring is one of the most critical yet time-consuming processes in any organization. We noticed how recruiters and candidates alike suffer from long, manual, and often biased technical interview rounds. This inspired us to create a solution that leverages AI to automate and improve the screening process — making hiring faster, fairer, and more scalable.

🔧 What it does

Hiresense automates the early rounds of technical interviews:

• Generates role-specific questions using Gemini AI
• Conducts real-time, voice-based interviews with Vapi AI
• Transcribes and summarizes interviews automatically
• Provides a centralized dashboard for recruiters to manage everything
• Also allows candidates to practice mock interviews and get feedback

🛠️ How we built it

• Frontend: Built using Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and Shadcn UI
• Backend: Powered by Node.js and Next.js API routes
• Authentication: Implemented via Google OAuth
• Database: Managed with Supabase
• AI Integration: Used Gemini AI for question/summaries and Vapi AI for voice interviews

🚧 Challenges we ran into

• Integrating real-time voice with Vapi AI and ensuring latency-free interactions
• Handling multiple async API calls and rate limits with Gemini AI
• Creating a consistent data sync between interviews, transcripts, and admin dashboard
• Designing a user-friendly UI under tight hackathon time constraints

🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Successfully implemented real-time, AI-conducted interviews
• Achieved end-to-end automation from job creation to summary delivery
• Created a clean and scalable architecture using modern frameworks
• Delivered a working MVP within the hackathon timeline

📚 What we learned

• Deepened our experience with Agentic AI and how to practically apply it
• Learned efficient API handling and integration with tools like Vapi and Gemini
• Improved our ability to collaborate under pressure and manage modular development
• Understood the importance of balancing tech with user experience in real-world apps

🚀 What's next for Hiresense

• Add support for video interviews and AI avatar interface
• Enable admin feedback scoring and interview analytics
• Expand use cases to support mock interview platforms for colleges
• Offer integrations with ATS platforms like Greenhouse or Lever
• Refine UI/UX and deploy as a SaaS tool for early-stage startups
