Inspiration
Every recruiter I've spoken to has the same problem: hiring is 80% coordination and 20% actual judgment. Résumés pile up in inboxes, candidates ghost after one email, context gets lost when a hiring manager changes, and reference checks take weeks of back-and-forth across organizations.
The root cause isn't effort — it's architecture. Hiring involves multiple people across multiple organizations who have no shared coordination layer. Each person operates in their own silo with their own tools.
When I discovered Aicoo's Pulse API, I immediately saw the solution. Aicoo is built exactly for this: giving every person their own AI agent with persistent context, and letting those agents communicate and share context across organizational boundaries. HireNet is what happens when you apply that infrastructure to hiring.
What it does
HireNet is a multi-agent hiring network where every participant — recruiter and candidate — gets their own AI agent powered by Aicoo's Pulse infrastructure. Hiring workflows happen agent-to-agent, automatically, with full context preserved at every step.
For Recruiters:
- Post a job description — saved to Aicoo workspace as persistent agent context
- Screen any candidate with one click — Aicoo's AI COO reads the JD context and returns a fit score out of 10, a clear verdict (Shortlist / Maybe / Reject), top reasons, and a suggested interview question
- Shortlist a candidate → generate an Aicoo share link — candidate gets direct access to your AI COO agent for 7 days
- Run Aicoo Briefing to get an executive summary of all applicants ranked by priority with suggested next actions
For Candidates:
- Submit your profile — saved to Aicoo's coordination layer as persistent context
- Once shortlisted, chat directly with the recruiter's AI COO — ask about the role, tech stack, culture, and interview process
- The AI COO has full context from the recruiter's workspace so answers are specific and accurate
Coordination Layer:
- Every agent action logged in a live Activity Feed in real time
- Aicoo Heartbeat runs in the background to auto-coordinate follow-ups
- Heartbeat history shows all runs, policies, and actions created
How we built it
HireNet is a single-page React application with zero custom backend. All agent state, context storage, AI reasoning, and cross-person coordination is handled entirely by Aicoo's Pulse API.
8 Aicoo endpoints power the entire product:
| Endpoint | Purpose |
|---|---|
POST /api/v1/init |
Bootstrap the HireNet agent workspace |
POST /api/v1/accumulate |
Save job descriptions and candidate profiles as persistent context |
POST /api/v1/chat |
Screen candidates against JD and power candidate Q&A |
POST /api/v1/share/create |
Generate shareable agent links for shortlisted candidates |
POST /api/v1/briefing |
Generate daily executive summary of all applicants |
POST /api/v1/heartbeat/run |
Trigger background coordination and follow-up automation |
GET /api/v1/heartbeat/runs |
Display heartbeat history in the Activity Feed |
GET /api/v1/share/list |
Track active agent share links |
Aicoo replaces what would normally require a full backend — database, message broker, auth system, and AI inference layer — in a single API. That's what made building this solo in 24 hours possible.
Challenges we ran into
No traditional agent-to-agent messaging between separate accounts. My original vision was for a candidate agent and recruiter agent on completely separate Aicoo accounts to message each other directly. The Pulse API doesn't expose that endpoint. I had to rethink the architecture — and the share link system turned out to be a more elegant solution. Instead of agents messaging each other, the recruiter's agent becomes directly accessible to the candidate. Simpler for the user, same coordination outcome.
Streaming responses. Aicoo's /chat endpoint streams by default. For a hackathon demo, non-streaming was cleaner to handle in React without a backend. Switched to stream: false and handled response parsing carefully.
Solo, no laptop, phone only. I built this entirely from my phone using Replit's mobile browser interface. Every line of code, every API test, every deployment — done on a phone screen. That forced extreme clarity in the architecture — no room for complexity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Built a fully working multi-agent hiring product in under 24 hours, solo, on a phone
- 8 real Aicoo API endpoints integrated and working in production
- Zero custom backend — Aicoo handles everything
- The share link flow genuinely enables cross-person agent coordination — a recruiter's AI COO becomes directly accessible to a candidate via a single Aicoo API call
- Clean, professional UI that works on mobile and desktop
- Live app deployed and fully functional at submission time
What we learned
Aicoo's coordination layer is genuinely powerful for multi-stakeholder workflows. The combination of persistent context via /accumulate, cross-person access via /share/create, AI reasoning via /chat, and background automation via /heartbeat covers the full lifecycle of a real hiring process — without writing a single line of backend code.
The share link insight was the biggest learning: you don't need bidirectional agent messaging to achieve coordination. One-directional context sharing with the right permissions is enough to unlock powerful cross-person workflows.
What's next for HireNet
- Reference check flow — candidate agent reaches out to a reference at a different organization, fully coordinated through Aicoo
- Multi-recruiter routing — inbound applications routed to the right hiring manager agent based on role and skills
- Interview scheduling — use Aicoo's calendar tools to book interviews directly from the recruiter's AI COO
- Offer coordination — generate and share offer letters through Aicoo's document context layer
- Analytics dashboard — track time-to-hire, screening accuracy, and pipeline health using Aicoo briefing history
