Inspiration
Big metropolitan areas such as the SF Bay Area encounter problems with homelessness, and some solutions can be complicated to achieve. However, our approach counted on a web application for submitting and applying to available job offerings that can provide people in economic crisis a source of income.
What it does
HireHomie is a web application that prompts employers and applicants for availability information and various job opportunities. It then sends a SMS message to the applicant to inform them about their application. Companies or startups can also prompt information about the date and hour for the job opportunity. Another idea is to give applicants the option to help building databases for machine learning and get an incentive for every certain number of pictures taken.
How we built it
We developed a Node.js application that can take create a short survey-like prompt for ease of input for both recruiters and applicants. The database idea is still under development, but we have not yet discarded the possibilities to make it work.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
We created a different version of the home page that what we had initially intended and given a different prompt as well, given that our first idea was to assist users and companies alike with Google Forms instead that another design.
