Inspiration The inspiration for Hira came from a simple observation: fitness and wellness apps often fall short in offering real-time, personalized, and AI-driven guidance that adapts to every user’s unique needs — especially for the elderly, patients, kids, athletes, and general gym-goers. We wanted to build something smarter — a 360° AI fitness companion that can understand your body, track your performance, motivate you, and guide you like a personal trainer, therapist, and friend.
What It Does Hira is an AI-powered fitness and wellness companion designed to work with wearable data and user inputs across 100+ frontend screens. It monitors, analyzes, and responds to all aspects of a user's health — offering personalized workouts, diets, rehabilitation routines, motivation, alerts, and even gamified experiences for kids.
How We Built It We used:
Flutter for frontend (cross-platform: Android & iOS)
Node.js with TypeScript for backend
MongoDB for database storage
Gemini API (Google AI) for all AI processing
RESTful API architecture for modular backend-to-AI communication
JWT for user authentication
WebSockets for real-time data sync and feedback
Cloud deployment on Firebase and Vercel (planned)
Our focus was on modularity and scalability, making it easy to add new screens, AI models, and roles in the future.
What We Learned Integrating AI with real-time health data requires careful data validation and user privacy handling.
Designing UX for a diverse audience (kids to seniors) demands thoughtful screen structure, tone, and interactivity.
Routing and managing 100+ screens taught us how important clean architecture is in mobile app development.
Challenges Creating an AI engine that works across diverse user types without bias.
Keeping latency low when processing sensor data with AI in real time.
Managing secure data transmission from wearables to the cloud.
Ensuring UX accessibility for elderly and visually impaired users.
What's Next? Integration with OpenAI API (GPT-4.1) for enhanced reasoning.
Voice-based navigation and AI-guided workouts.
Support for AR/VR-based physical therapy experiences.
Launching a pro version with remote consultation by certified trainers and doctors.
