Inspiration
Our inspiration came from a YC video that described most current AI apps as "horseless carriages" - old technology with a new engine attached. We were obsessed with this idea. We didn't want to build another horseless carriage. We wanted to build the car. Hipocap is our attempt to build the next generation of automation, one that is fundamentally intuitive and powered by natural language.
We initially launched our project as https://hipocap.com, but have since built an entirely new version from the ground up, now available at https://workflow.hipocap.com.

What it does
Hipocap is an AI workflow automation platform that lets you automate tasks across different apps just by writing a prompt.
- You Describe, It Does: Instead of dragging and dropping nodes in a complex editor, you simply write what you want to happen (e.g., "Every Friday, take new rows from my Google Sheet and create a summary in a Notion page").
- Connects Your Tools: Currently, Hipocap can connect to and perform actions in 7 different applications.
- Set It and Forget It: You can schedule any workflow to run at a specific time, day, or on a recurring basis, giving you back valuable time.
Our goal is to eliminate the complexity of automation. If you can describe it, Hipocap can do it.
Potential Use Cases
Hipocap is designed to be a personal automation partner for busy professionals. Here are just a few examples of how different roles can use it:
For Entrepreneurs & Founders:
- Daily Business Snapshot:
> Prompt:
"Every morning at 8 AM, pull key metrics from my Google Analytics , and send a summary to my Slack #daily-briefing channel." - Automated Lead Funnel:
> Prompt:
“When a new person fills out my website's contact form, create a new contact in my CRM and add their details to my 'New Leads' Google Sheet."
For Marketers:
- Content Distribution:
> Prompt:
"Whenever I publish a new article on my blog, automatically create a post with the title and link and share it on Twitter and LinkedIn." - Lead Nurturing:
> Prompt:
“When a user signs up for our webinar, wait 24 hours and then send them a follow-up email from my Gmail with a link to the recording.”
For Operations & Project Managers:
- Task Management from Email:
> Prompt:
"When an email in my Gmail is labeled 'Urgent Task', create a new task in Asana and assign it to me with a due date of tomorrow." - Automated Weekly Reports:
> Prompt:
“Every Friday at 4 PM, get all the completed tasks from our project board and compile the list into a summary document in Notion.”
How we built it
This project was a 10-day sprint built on passion and "vibe coding" - relying on shared intuition and rapid development. 90% of the app was built just by vibe coding, with only 10% requiring formal, detailed planning and development.
- AI Agents: Gemini models, orchestrated using the CrewAI Flows framework.
- App Integrations: ACI.dev for connecting to third-party apps.
- Frontend: Bolt.new, We were so committed that we pooled the free credits from three team members to get the frontend fully built.
Challenges we ran into
Our 10-day journey was a marathon of overcoming obstacles:
- Sickness: On Day 5, with the frontend complete, two of our key developers fell sick. This significantly slowed down our work on the core AI agent orchestration.
- Quality Crisis: By Day 8, our AI agent layer was functional but only worked correctly 7 out of 10 times. This wasn't good enough for our vision to compete with giants like Zapier and Make. So, we made the tough decision to rebuild the entire AI layer from scratch.
- Injury & Demotivation: On Day 9, with pressure at its peak, I (Sri) suffered an ankle injury while playing cricket. It was a major blow to the team's morale.
Despite all this, our team spirit never broke.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Resilience: We faced illness, a major technical rewrite, and a physical injury, but we never gave up.
- Speed & Quality: In just 10 days, our team of 4 built a beautiful, functional, and production-level application.
- Building a Competitor: We are most proud of creating something that we genuinely believe can stand against major players in the automation space like Zappier, make, n8n.
What we learned
This hackathon was an intense crash course in more than just coding. We learned invaluable lessons in:
- Project Management Under Pressure: How to handle unexpected delays and still meet a deadline.
- The Power of Teamwork: Supporting each other through sickness and low morale was the only reason we finished.
- When to Rebuild: Recognizing that a "good enough" solution isn't good enough and having the courage to start over for a better result.
- Product-Market Fit: We learned a lot about how to market our product and clearly communicate its value.
What's next for Hipocap
We are fully committed to turning Hipocap into a real business. Our short-term goals are:
- Get Customer Feedback: Reach out to our first users to listen and improve the product.
- Find Paying Customers: We are running out of funds, so achieving our first revenue is a top priority.
- Expand Integrations: Add more popular apps like MailChimp, Apollo, Zoho, and others.
- Improve the AI: Continue to refine our AI agentic layer to give users even more control and reliability.
