Inspiration

We were inspired by the challenges faced by patients in hospitals such as long waiting lines, lack of real-time information availability, and difficulties in booking appointments. Patients still rely on traditional means such as physically visiting the hospital or making phone calls for basic healthcare needs. This prompted us to develop Hind Svaasth Seva, a smart multi-hospital healthcare platform that utilizes AI and cloud technology to simplify the operations of hospitals and increase the accessibility, organization, and efficiency of healthcare delivery.

What it does

Hind Svaasth Seva is a comprehensive healthcare management system that enables the connection of multiple hospitals into a single platform. This platform allows for digital patient registration, appointment booking, token queue system, billing system, and medical records in real time. Additionally, the platform comes with a feature for a multilingual AI-powered calling agent that engages in natural voice conversations with patients and books appointments in real time. A tracking system is also included in the platform for monitoring the system’s efficiency.

How we built it

Gemini API is used for powering conversational intelligence in our system. Additionally, ElevenLabs is integrated into our system for AI voice responses during phone calls. Moreover, Auth0 is used for authentication and role-based access control for our system’s users such as receptionists, doctors, and administrators. The backend services, APIs, and database are deployed using DigitalOcean for centralized storage and system performance.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was configuring the secure authentication process using Auth0, including issues with redirect, consent screen, and hospital-wise role-based access. Another was the integration of real-time AI voice calls with backend database updates, including synchronization of services. Natural conversation flow between speech understanding and voice output was another feature that had to be refined several times. Finally, there were server configuration issues with the secure cloud deployment on DigitalOcean.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that, with this project, we were able to build a fully functional multi-hospital healthcare platform that could integrate AI voice calls with real-time hospital operations, including automatically registering patients, scheduling appointment calls, reflecting the same on the receptionist’s dashboard, and so on. In addition, the platform could support secure login with strict role isolation for different hospitals, making the entire platform scalable and very close to real-world deployment.

What we learned

Through this project, we were able to learn the following: the process of building scalable healthcare platforms, the integration of conversational AI with voice technologies, the process of secure identity management, the process of building a full-stack platform on cloud infrastructure, and the importance of building simple interfaces for hospital staff.

What's next for Hind Svaasth Seva

What’s next for the project is the integration of AI-based symptom pre-screening, AI-based doctor recommendation, ambulance integration, AI-based hospital crowd management, and so on, while scaling the entire platform for more hospitals across the country, including the development of mobile apps for seamless digital healthcare access for patients as well as medical staff.
