Inspiration:
We noticed that many people in our school and community struggled to keep track of gym events, buy tickets, or reserve spots easily. This made us want to create a simple and helpful website to bring all gym-related information into one place. Our goal was to make things easier for everyone and to help the gym run more smoothly.
What it does:
Our website helps people stay connected with all the events happening at the Hillcrest High Gym. It has a calendar to check event dates, details about each event, and a ticket-buying page to get your seats easily. You can also find information about the gym and even make reservations for using the space. It’s designed to be simple, helpful, and easy to use for everyone!
How we built it:
We built our project by first planning all the features we wanted, such as a calendar, event details, and ticket buying, and sketching how the website should look and work. Next, we used HTML to create the website's structure, CSS to design it with colors, fonts, and layouts, and JavaScript to add interactive features like a working calendar that displays events. Finally, we tested the website on different devices, including phones, tablets, and computers, to ensure it worked well everywhere. We also gathered feedback from friends and made improvements based on their suggestions.
Challenges we ran into:
Making the calendar work was tricky because it took a lot of coding and testing to get it to show events correctly. We also worked hard to make sure the website looked good on all screen sizes, from small phones to big monitors. Another challenge was balancing information so we could show important details without making the site too messy. With so much to do, we had to stay focused and manage our time well to get everything done.
What we learned:
While working on this project, we learned how to design a website using tools like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, which helped us understand web design better. We also improved our teamwork by sharing ideas and working together to create the best project we could. When things didn’t go as planned, we learned problem-solving skills to fix them. Finally, we practiced staying organized by breaking big tasks into smaller steps to make everything easier to manage.
