🏔️ Hill Sense: Sense the storm before it strikes ⏱️ 10 minutes. 365 days of work. Gone.

In the hills of Himachal, a single hailstorm can destroy an entire apple harvest in about ten minutes. A single frost night can wipe out the blossoms before they become fruit. Landslides can cut off roads, orchards, and whole villages.

The warning signs are in the sky. But the farmer rarely gets the warning in time, in a language he understands, with advice he can act on.

📱 Our solution

Hill Sense is a village-level early warning system for hill farmers. It collects live weather data, uses machine learning to predict the risk of hail, frost, and landslides, and sends a short alert on SMS or WhatsApp in the farmer’s own language.

It doesn’t just say “frost tonight.” It tells the farmer what to do:

“❄️ Frost expected tonight in your area. Cover young apple plants and light smoke fires in the orchard before 10 PM.”

✨ Why Hill Sense works in real life 📍 Hyperlocal: alerts are for your village, not your whole district. 💬 No new app to learn: it works on WhatsApp and plain SMS, which farmers already use. 🗣️ In your language: Hindi and local dialect support, so nothing gets lost in translation. 🌾 Crop-specific advice: every alert says what to do for apples and other hill crops. 🚦 Easy to read: a green, yellow, or red risk meter shows danger at a glance, even for low-literacy users. ⏰ Early enough to act: hours of notice to cover plants, harvest early, or move equipment to safety. 🌍 The impact 🍎 Protects livelihoods: a few hours of warning can save a farmer’s year of income. 🛟 Protects lives: landslide alerts keep families and communities safe. 📈 Builds resilience: data-driven decisions help hill farming adapt to unpredictable, changing weather.
