Inspiration

We all run into traffic situations in big cities. The amount of time spent in traffic could be saved and used in more productive aspect of our lives.

What it does

It automatically loads traffic information from nearest user location and provides the user with option to input address. We pull in intelligent traffic data from available mapping services.

How I built it

I developed the application, both front end and back end using java, php and mysql for the database. I worked with Opeyemi Adesina who designed the concept.

Challenges I ran into

The re-compilation of the application into blackberry app as google map was not supported and i needed to display traffic information on the map. I tried Open Street map but it does not have traffic information of places. More, the use of Esri Map on the application took a some time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Development of a traffic information provider app which utilizes less internet.

What I learned

I learnt about the use of other map providers aside google map which are Open Street Map and Esri Map

What's next for HighStrit

Provision of additional information to help solve the issue of traffic situations most especially in Nigeria.
