Inspiration
We were inspired to create Hide.it after hearing from content creators who were frustrated with the difficulties of censoring their videos. They wanted an easier way to blur out certain objects, without having to spend hours editing their footage. We realized that there was an opportunity to create a tool that could automate this process and make it accessible to anyone.
What it does
Hide.it is a web-based tool that allows users to upload a video and automatically censor certain objects or words. The tool uses advanced algorithms to identify and track the selected objects throughout the video, and applies the selected censorship method.
How we built it
We built Hide.it using a combination of JavaScript, HTML, and CSS on the frontend, and Python and Flask on the backend. We also used several third-party libraries, such as OpenCV for video processing and tracking.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was integrating the various third-party libraries and services into our application, as each had its own quirks and limitations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the fact that we were able to create a tool that solves a problem and has the potential to benefit content creators everywhere. We're also proud of the level of accuracy and speed that we were able to achieve with our censorship algorithm.
What we learned
During the development of Hide.it, we learned a lot about video processing and tracking. We also gained experience working with several new libraries and services, which will be valuable for future projects.
What's next for Hide.it
In the future, we plan to add additional features to Hide.it, such as support for more censorship methods and custom object tracking. Ultimately, our goal is to make Hide.it the go-to tool for content creators who want to easily and automatically censor their videos.
