Inspiration
Our friend Sahra, despite being highly qualified, couldn't make it past the initial job interview round for her dream position at a tech company. She was discriminated based on her gender for being a women in tech! Same for Ajay who is a really talented person, but he wasn't called back for a job interview because of his name and race. He actually did an experiment by only changing his name to John on his CV and got called back the next day for the same job! This really shows biases in the recrutment process.
What it does
Our solution is an AI-powered chatbot assisting HR professionals to anonymize resumes and conduct an objective bias-free candidate selection. Main features include: • Anonymizing Resumes: Remove personal identifiers form the resume database of the compagny, ensuring data privacy and security.
•Candidate Selection Assistance: AI chatbot assisting HR recruiters to find the Hidden Gem. Using the chatbot will eliminate biases, focus on skills and qualifications.
• Perfect matching: A selction of candidates found thanks to the chatbot’s efficient blind hiring! Promotes fairness and diversity for equal opportunities and diverse workforce.
How we built it
The landing page was built using HTML, CSS and Javascript. The chatbot uses the OpenAI API.
Challenges we ran into
Working on different times zones is a challenge we've managed to overcome by organizing and managing our time wisely. We have been struggling on the chatbot creation because of the very short time we had this weekend to come up with a solution.

We've grasped the significance of data privacy and the necessity of safeguarding candidate information in the hiring process. These principles have steered us in creating an innovative solution that directly tackles these challenges, ensuring an equitable and secure hiring experience for everyone.
What's next for HiddenGem
In the next few months, we will develop our initial MVP, which we'll directly test in the market. Our vision for 2024 is to expand and diversify by incorporating a job interview feature into our offering. Additionally, we aim to support candidates throughout their journey by creating a tool to help them identify and realize their strongest skill set, empowering them for success.
