Inspiration

In our opinion, the best way to get people hooked is with humour. So why not have something that can help you reduce your decision fatigue in a way that integrates dad jokes, sarcasm, really bad puns, and Gordon Ramsay style insults all into one little bundle.

What it does

Hi Hungry's job is to judge you on all sorts of fun stuff. Whether or not you think you're in a simulation, if you think humans are donut shaped, if you think pineapple belongs on pizza etc. Based on options you choose, it'll spit out a food that you should eat depending on your answers! But not just that. Along with the food choice that we think you'll absolutely love (you're welcome), each message comes with its only little description on why we think you deserve that food and it probably isn't what you're expecting.

How I built it

Python.

Challenges I ran into

As a group that has never completed any sort of hackathon project before, finding a good method to collaborate took a bit of time. As well, for our particular project it took a pretty large org chart which lead to a bit of a mess trying to follow it (ironic we know).

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Although most people would have probably resulted in something like an app or something super innovative, a big reason for me personally was overcoming imposters syndrome and forcing myself to actually go to a hackathon for once after wanting to join one since high school. As a group, this project definitely shows off more of our personality and our connection to genZ humour more than our programming skills but I'm really happy that we actually came up with something.

What I learned

As our entire group has never done this before, we all learned about how a hackathon works and how to get the most out of it.

What's next for Hi Hungry

Well to point out the obvious, the next steps for Hi Hungry would be to make an actual site or an app. Besides that, more food options, pathways and much more sarcastic comments to come.
