an extra view for your interviews.

What is it?

3D interface to overcome interview anxiety.

Why

As students in tech, we know getting chosen for an interview is comparable to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

But what happens when we’re too lost, overwhelmed, and anxious to know how to prepare?

Seeking help is hard, and starting is often the biggest mountain.

That's why we made extraview: another set of eyes, ears, and advice for the words you can’t quite get out, the code you don’t know how to write, the skills you can’t explain.

To make interview prep less scary.

And ultimately, to make it an everyday part of your life. To implement consistency, over catastrophe.

Designed for

Students recruiting for tech internships.

Known limitations

  • No back-end! Everything is stored locally, to reduce friction. Meaning, you reset your progress on a new browser.
  • Talking to the interviewer is still finicky. Back and forth conversations means you could get cut off or talked over, not something you'd want to experience when preparing for interviews.

Particularly proud of

  • Using React Three Fiber with Three.js to create different 3D characters for the UI
  • Spending a lot of time scoping down features for the project, tailoring it to a specific narrative
  • The part we were most nervous about not working was the IDE feature. Especially, accommodating 6 different languages, showing errors and test runs for all of them.
