Inspiration
as a black woman who has been natural for almost a decade, I had chosen to lock my hair up because of the lack of hairstyling resources at my disposal. I want to create a resource guide for black girls who want to learn how to take care of their curls and connect with their culture!
What it does
made by a black girl for black girls, HeyCurlie! is a hair personality quiz made for curlies who want to go natural but keep their crowns protected. by asking basic questions about your hair's condition, HeyCurlie! will recommend a set of hairstyling tutorials that best fit for protecting your curls!
How I built it
html, css, javascript
Challenges I ran into
getting the quiz to work was very hard so I wasn't able to scale up the project as much as i had hoped. flexboxes and coordinating all of the elements together was also not easy. i also wasn't the best at managing time so it was hard to juggle all of that.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
the end result is very simple but I'm still happy I was able to design a lot more!
What I've learned
I've brushed up more on my web dev/front-end skills and UI designing skills.
What's next for HeyCurlie!
perhaps I'll work on it on my own time to refine it to be a greater resource for the black natural hair community!
