Inspiration
123 Loadboard challenged us to keep drivers awake and relieve them from boredom. Therefore, we created Hey Bud.
What it does
Hey Bud is mainly focused on being an interactive novel where our Buds user can discover stories through choose your own adventure format by using voice recognition system such that the application can be completely hands-free.
How we built it
We mainly focused on the interactive storytelling process of the app. We built a data structure in Java for storing and reading the interactive stories. We also decided to start designing the interface for creating a new story in a webpage, to make it more intuitive and more accessible to everyone. This story maker was started in javascript making use of some open-source code.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into multiple challenge. First, we had to figure out how to make a user-friendly way for users to create their own story. We decided to have a tree structure interface so that the user can easily organize their stories.
Secondly, we wanted to make the program easy to recognize user input. We had to figure out a way to accept a range of intuitive answers and ran into some issues with the string recognition. We resolved his by creating a list of acceptable answers for each action.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
All the effort that we have put in!
How much we were able to round out our project in just one weekend, and how we were able to distribute the work to all the people in the team despite our difference in coding experience.
What we learned
The basic component that consists of making a web site as well as the complexity of how a data structure can be.
What's next for Hey Bud
Further Developpement of the app to make it more accessible to everyone including our hard-working road carrier 💪.
