Inspiration:

The inspiration behind HerShield was the pressing need to enhance women's safety and empower them with accessible information about their legal rights and health. The rising concerns about women's safety in public spaces and the lack of easily available resources motivated us to create a solution that could provide real-time support, information, and guidance through a user-friendly platform.

What it does:

HerShield is an AI-powered chatbot designed to assist women in matters of safety, legal rights, and health. It provides real-time safety tips, legal advice on women's rights, and health information in a conversational manner. In case of emergencies, it guides users with actionable steps and resources to ensure their safety. The chatbot's empathetic and informative responses aim to make users feel supported and empowered.

How we built it:

We built HerShield using the OpenAI API integrated into a Streamlit-based web application. The chatbot leverages natural language processing to understand user queries and provide accurate and relevant information. The intuitive design of Streamlit helped in creating an accessible and user-friendly interface, ensuring that users can navigate and interact with the chatbot effortlessly.

Challenges we ran into:

One of the significant challenges was fine-tuning the AI to provide accurate and sensitive responses, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like legal rights and emergency situations. Ensuring the chatbot's tone was both empathetic and authoritative required multiple iterations and testing. Additionally, integrating real-time resources and maintaining a smooth user experience posed technical challenges.

Expanding the database with more comprehensive legal and health resources and collaborating with NGOs and law enforcement for live assistance are also on our roadmap. Our goal is to make HerShield a trusted companion for women's safety worldwide.
