Inspiration

I got inspired from my mom, who is a restaurant owner in El Salvador and has had a hard hit during this whole COVID-19 situation. Restaurant owners, especially in developing countries, are struggling right now to survive during COVID-19. Many of them had to shut down their operations, because people are in lockdown and are not allowed to live their home. So, they have to cook at home to avoid getting sick. The delivery service only makes 3% of the total revenues and delivery platforms such as ubereats are saturated and can't handle the current demand. Additionally, 80% of the restaurants have enough cashflow to pay salaries and operating costs until May 2020. After that, the majority will go bankrupt and thousand of restaurant employees will be out of job.

Solution

Delivernow aims to provide fresh food boxes and simple recipes for every household who wants to cook under 15 min during COVID-19. There is no preparing, no shopping and no necessity to go to the grocery store anymore. To make this delivery possible, we have built partnerships with restaurants in El Salvador, that will lend us their personnel during COVID-19. This will help reduce the personnel costs of restaurants drastically and create a new revenue stream that restaurants were not able to have before.

How it works

1. Pick a plan recipe: Wether you are cooking for yourself or the whole family we have different plan recipes to match your needs.

2. Get your delivery: Each week you'll get your fresh food box delivered to your door with all the necessary ingredients to prepare your meals. We use high hygiene standards to keep all the ingredients clean and ready to eat.

3. Make something delicious: read our step-by-step guide on our website to prepare your meals under 15 min. Now you can stop worrying about what you will eat today!

What it does

We will build a web application with the following sections:

  1. Menu of recipes with the possibility to choose one and add it to the cart.
  2. Description of cooking process for every meal with pictures and step-by-step guide.
  3. Check-out page with payment process and customer delivery data.
  4. POS plugin for WooCommerce collects and transmits the data to the partner restaurant (POS is synced) that will pack and deliver the order to the end customer. Upon arrival, delivery employee will confirm the successful hand-over.
  5. Customer submits the service evaluation.

How I will build it

I have 72 hours. Day 1: I will buy a domain, hosting, ecommerce woocommerce theme for wordpress. Create content and put it on the platform for 3 recipes only. Set up Stripe integration. Set up and pay Google AdWords with initial capital. Create Instagram and Facebook account and invest 50 USD in ads each. Set up ground rules with the partner restaurants via Email and/ or POS. Day 2: Create more content, check the performance of ad campaign and invest more in marketing. Day 3: If the demand is higher than for 30 customers, expand to the additional locations of partner restaurant. Otherwise collect data and wait for validation or rejection of the business model thesis.

Challenges I will run into

Getting partnerships from restaurants during the lockdown in less than 3 days. Done! :)
