Inspiration

We began this project unsure of what to make. So, we began creating lists: ways to help people, pros and cons, etc. After we had a few basic ideas, we then created a list of the tasks we'd have to complete in our limited amount of time. Faced with the daunting task ahead of us, we were suddenly struck with a great idea! We wanted to find a way to make completing tasks like these more interesting and enjoyable. Thus, Hero was born.

What it does

This is an interactive to-do list. It comes with a few pre-set actions, but the user can add as many as they'd like. As you complete these actions you can cross them out which will fill up a little bar at the top of the screen. Once that bar is full you know that you're done with all of your tasks for the day.

How we built it

We started with a very generic HTML layout. We then used javascript to make Hero more interactive and CSS to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

Challenges we ran into

Before this Hackathon, neither one of us had ever used HTML, CSS, or JavaScript before. Therefore, there was definitely a steep learning curve, but luckily with help from the internet and others, we persevered and made something we are excited about.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

As mentioned above, neither one of us had ever used these programming languages. Furthermore, we had some difficulty staying motivated, but with hard work and a lot of grit, we made it through and created Hero.

What we learned

We learned a lot of the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also furthered our knowledge of working together as a team and making our random ideas a reality.

What's next for Hero

If/when we continue working on Hero we would love to make more preset quests (daily tasks). We would also love to include more of an incentive for completing your daily tasks (Badges, celebration animation, etc).
