Inspiration

I was doing an important task and suddenly I got a thought , that the registrations of some x event is going to end tomorrow, and because I was busy in that task , I could not just open any todo app and then set reminder for that task , I am lazy yk , so instead I thought to make a messenger linked with my calender , I could just message it like I message any other friend like hey I have this meeting tomorrow set the reminder and done. The inspiration was laziness I could say.

What it does

Hermanu is an AI productivity companion on Telegram. Talk to it naturally — add events, ask about your schedule, get smart AI answers using your actual calendar data. Witty Groq-powered reminders, conversational memory, and a live visual dashboard.

How we built it

Built entirely with MeDo through multi-turn conversation. Supabase for database and Edge Functions, Groq AI (llama-3.1-8b-instant) for intent classification and smart responses, chrono-node for date parsing, React + FullCalendar for the dashboard, deployed on Netlify.

Challenges we ran into

Getting the AI to correctly classify intent — distinguishing "when am I free?" from "add an event" — required multiple iterations of the Groq prompt. Conversational memory across messages was also tricky to implement correctly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

A fully conversational AI calendar that understands natural language, remembers context, and sends witty personalised reminders — all deployed and working end to end.

What we learned

Prompt engineering is everything. How you instruct an LLM determines the entire user experience. MeDo made full-stack generation fast but the real work was getting the AI behaviour right.

What's next for Hermanu

What's next for Hermanu Goal setting with AI-generated weekly roadmaps using the 20-hour rule, voice message support, and a mobile-first dashboard.
