HerHealth: HealthCare for Her
Inspiration
Inspired by the millions of stories of women being misdiagnosed or waiting years for treatment that comes too late, our mission at HerHealth is to provide women with the tools they need to receive the equal and accessible medical treatment that they deserve. Every year, hundreds of thousands of women struggle due to the gender gap in healthcare, whether it be through period poverty, withheld medication, or a lack of research done in the field. HerHealth aims to make a difference through education and self-advocacy resources.
What it does
HerHealth is a tracking and educational tool centered around empowering women to seek healthcare autonomy and to break down current discrimination in medical healthcare surrounding diagnosis and treatment.
How we built it
Build using HTML, CSS, and JS on Qoom, HerHealth is an online tool that merges different coding languages and uses Cospaces to create interactive spaces within the tool for a smooth and engaging experience.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges included learning to connect to Qoom databases and storing user input to be used in check-in forms later on. Further, learning to embed outside programs into our website and creating the user authentication system required quite a bit of troubleshooting.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our ability to merge interactive elements into our project to create a more engaging space and to bring more life and emphasis to the important topic of women's healthcare.
What we learned
Coming out of this hackathon, our HTML design and layout skills are significantly stronger, and we've learnt the importance of simple yet effective design.
What's next for HerHealth
HerHealth will continue to advocate for women's health by expanding its resources and automating its processes for check-in creation to maximize its outreach and make a difference.
