Inspiration
Ayurvati was inspired by the need for a comprehensive, accessible health platform designed specifically for women and girls. Recognizing the unique health challenges that arise at different life stages like puberty, pregnancy, and postpartum, we wanted to create an app that provides meaningful health insights, personalized support, and resources to empower women in their health journeys.
What it Does
Ayurvati is a health monitoring app that allows women to track various health metrics, lifestyle habits, and appointments while providing curated resources for different life stages. The app includes a health chatbot to answer questions, a lifestyle tracker for managing exercise and sleep, and personalized health scores and risk assessments. It’s designed to evolve with the user’s needs, providing relevant content and insights for each stage they are in.
How We Built It
We built Ayurvati using Flutter for a smooth, cross-platform experience on both Android and iOS. Firebase is used for backend support, handling user authentication, data storage, and analytics. The webview feature is integrated for accessing external resources directly within the app, while shared preferences help store appointment and lifestyle data locally. The app uses AI to analyze health metrics and provide personalized insights.
Challenges We Ran Into
One of the main challenges we encountered was integrating a real-time, responsive chatbot that could handle diverse health-related questions and offer trustworthy answers. Another challenge was ensuring the smooth integration of webviews within the app, which required troubleshooting compatibility issues with different Android WebView configurations. Data privacy was a key concern, and building a secure and compliant app added complexity to our development process.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
We’re proud of creating an accessible and user-friendly interface that resonates with women of all ages. We’re also proud of successfully implementing a health score and risk prediction system tailored to each user, allowing for a personalized experience
What We Learned
We learned a lot about the nuances of health monitoring, particularly in the context of women’s health. Implementing personalized health scoring required an understanding of various health indicators and a deep dive into AI and ML for predicting health risks. We also learned how crucial user experience and privacy are when building an app that handles sensitive information.
What's Next for Ayurvati
Moving forward, we plan to enhance the AI-powered chatbot with natural language processing to better understand and respond to complex health questions. We also intend to expand our content and resources for additional life stages and improve health risk predictions using more comprehensive datasets. Adding a community feature for users to share their experiences and support each other is another goal we’re excited about for Ayurvati’s future.
