Inspiration and What it does

As of 2025, only 8% of directors with movies in theaters were women. In an effort to bring attention to their work, we wanted to create an application that takes a user's top Spotify artist and gives a list of woman-directed movie recommendations based on music taste.

How we built it

We used LLMs to help us build this application. It uses the musicbrainz, tmdb, and Spotify APIs.

Challenges we ran into

One challenge we ran into was securely storing and sharing API keys.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to complete this project in just 1.5 hours.

What we learned

This project helped us get more familiar with using API calls in react.

What's next for herfavs

In the future, we would like to improve the UI and expand the application to include woman-authored book recommendations based on the user's top Spotify artist.
