Inspiration
It is our opinion that there is a gap in the loyalty and rewards industry when it comes to moving to MACH solutions. To facilitate the migration from a loyalty service within a monolith, towards a MACH based solution, our vision is to enable a MarTech professional to seamlessly select and migrate loyalty rules. The gold is to speed up the process by easing the integration, and the migration process. There can be many brands and programs to move and it's tedious and difficult to time with the rest of the migration efforts.
What it does
Our solution, Herd Tender, takes care of ingesting the rules from a source system. The intent is to have some Artificial Intelligence process that would identify and transform the set of rules, which would then be migrated towards the MACH-based destination solution.
How we built it
We built the solution thinking about event driven architecture, to make sure that elements are decoupled. Additionally, due to the nature of the MACHathon, we made sure to at least involve one MACH certified vendor (Voucherify). If we were to expand this implementation, we would definitely think about how we can scale, insure resiliency and make sure that the solution is secure.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge that we ran into was the TIME. There was no dedicated time allocated for the MACHathon, and albeit fun, a lot of us have to put work as a priority. Other than that, it took us a good portion of the allotted two weeks to define the idea and come up with the details and the scenarios to show. However, when the idea came through, it was easy to get traction in the development process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The biggest accomplishment is how the team managed to hustle, especially towards the deadline, to get a nice demo up and running. There was great collaboration, and everyone supported each other.
What we learned
It takes time to come up with an idea, and more time to come up with a great idea. Developing with MACH-based applications makes it easy to prove an idea. Despite the short amount of time, we were able to prove our concept.
What's next for Herd Tender
We have proven a simple use case in the demo, and the concept is there. We strongly believe that there is a gap, and that this solution can help bridge the gap and facilitate the onboarding or migration of loyalty services. As a next step, it would be interesting to solve for more complex use cases, and potentially tie to a real life opportunity/client.
