Inspiration
Women with autoimmune conditions are up to 74% more likely to be told by men to be told their symptoms are psychological or psychosomaticThe Guardian . This article published less than a week ago highlights the challenges faced by women when it comes to seeking the medical advice they are entitled to. We believe more access should be provided to resources that would reassure women their concerns are valid. We also believe that this accessibility must extend to minorities such as disabled and neurodivergent people, who may find sources such as the NHS difficult to navigate.
What it does
HerHealth provides a space when the user can talk their symptoms out with a chatbot, which will ask for further details in a gentle, supportive manner. The user can discuss their concerns, and the chatbot will respond with further suggestions, which is finally detailed in a PDF that also summarises the key points of the conversation and includes further resources.
HerHealth also provides simple guides to some of these lesser-known conditions that women experience, such as PCOS, menopause, and endometriosis.
How we built it
When brainstorming features and the various tracks we could enter, we realised that ElevenLabs provided a useful solution to help users feel more comfortable. Our use of their AI voice encourages a more personable experience, allowing users to be more willing to discuss their symptoms more openly, which can then improve the conclusions made by the chat bot.
Challenges we ran into
There were several new concepts we came across when developing this project, such as ElevenLabs and Gemini API. In particular, it was difficult to integrate ElevenLabs into the entire system so that the transcript could be generated and the PDFs downloaded.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Employing the use of both ElevenLabs and Gemini API were tasks that we’re proud of. These were new technologies to us, and it was interesting to experiment with both. We are also proud of the overall appearance of our website, which maintains an aesthetically pleasing appearance while remaining easy to move through.
What we learned
We learned how to use AI tools to unlock further capabilities for our project. From using Claude alongside the creation of our code to implementing AI-powered tools in ElevenLabs, this project was enhanced by these tools, and we will be looking to build on this in the future.
What's next for HerHealth
We believe that there are many developments that could be made to HerHealth, such as expanding the content to include other conditions that primarily affect women. We would also like to add more features to improve accessibility, such as allowing for text inputs by the user and allowing for mltiple languages.
