Inspiration
The rising cases of harassment and crimes against women severely impact mental and physical well-being. Unsafe environments limit freedom, induce anxiety, and reduce quality of life. We were inspired to build a solution that uses AI and technology to proactively prevent such crimes rather than only reacting after they occur.
What it does
Her SafeSphere is an AI-driven safety ecosystem that predicts crime hotspots, issues real-time alerts, and suggests safer travel routes. It empowers law enforcement with predictive insights for smarter resource deployment while offering citizens a mobile app with live alerts, safe navigation, and SOS features.
How we built it
We developed a modular system integrating crime, geospatial, socioeconomic, and environmental data. Using machine learning techniques like time-series forecasting, clustering, and anomaly detection, we built predictive models for crime mapping and risk forecasting. The system is deployed on a secure, cloud-based infrastructure with dashboards for law enforcement and mobile interfaces for users.
Challenges we ran into
-Handling sensitive crime data while ensuring privacy and compliance. -Achieving real-time predictions and alerts with diverse datasets. -Designing a system that is scalable yet simple enough for citizens and law enforcement to adopt.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
-A working prototype combining AI models with real-world crime data. -An integrated ecosystem serving both citizens and authorities. -A scalable, secure architecture ready for expansion across cities.
What we learned
We learned how predictive analytics can shift public safety from reactive to proactive. We also gained experience in combining AI with real-world policy needs, and the importance of designing technology that prioritizes both usability and trust.
What's next for Her SafeSphere
We aim to expand through pilot launches with local police and universities, followed by scaling to corporates, navigation apps, and nationwide adoption. Future improvements include wearable integration, advanced mental wellness features, and deeper collaborations with policymakers.
