Inspiration
Our project, Her Planet, was inspired by the intersection of gender inequality and climate change. We recognized that women, particularly in vulnerable communities, are disproportionately affected by environmental challenges. This motivated us to create a solution that empowers women while addressing climate issues.
What it does
Her Planet is a platform that connects women with resources, education, and community support focused on climate resilience and sustainable practices. It provides access to training programs, networking opportunities, and tools to help women lead initiatives in their communities.
How we built it
We utilized Jotform App Builder to create Her Planet, leveraging its user-friendly interface to design our app without needing extensive coding skills. The platform allowed us to easily integrate forms for training registrations, feedback collection, and community engagement. We focused on creating an intuitive experience that caters to our users' needs.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we encountered was ensuring the app's accessibility for women in remote areas with limited internet access. Additionally, we faced difficulties in curating relevant content that resonates with diverse cultural backgrounds, which required thoughtful research and user feedback.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have launched a user-friendly app that has successfully engaged a community of women interested in climate action. Our initial pilot program received positive feedback, with participants expressing increased confidence in their ability to advocate for sustainable practices in their communities.
What we learned
Throughout this project, we learned the importance of inclusivity in design and the necessity of tailoring our approach to meet the unique needs of different communities. We also gained valuable insights into project management and collaboration, which were crucial for our success.
What's next for Her Planet
Looking ahead, we plan to expand our reach by partnering with local organizations to offer in-person workshops and training sessions. We aim to enhance our app with more interactive features and resources, ensuring that women everywhere can access the support they need to combat climate change.
