Inspiration
I was inspired to make a website catering to women in the healthcare workforce because it is a field I am interested in and studying towards. I am also interested in fixing the inequities in the system and systemic discrimination, that leads to less career advancement opportunities, especially for women in color.
What it does
While the website is unfinished, it has multiple areas for career opportunity resources. It would provide events such as sessions on healthcare trends, virtual career fairs connecting job seekers with employers, a built in AI-powered chatbot assistant for personalized career guidance, and a blog and forum for resources. Her Health Hub would foster an equitable and supportive environment for women in the field.
How we built it
I built this on my own using Virtual Studio Code and Replit. I used HTML and CSS to structure and design the layout of the main page.
Challenges we ran into
I am still new to code so I had trouble figuring out CSS layouts and positioning. I also didn't understand how to create subpages and different formats, such as making the like and comments features for the blog and forum pages. These are challenges I hope to improve upon as I grow.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud that I learned a lot more about HTML and strengthened my skills in it.
What we learned
I learned many things, including that the process of compiling can catch errors before running the code.
What's next for Her Health Hub
I think that I will continue working on this project as a personal website for my own learning and growth.
