Inspiration
Women have historically been underrepresented in clinical trials, even though there are plenty of health issues that affect both men and women. This has led to a lack of data on the specific health needs and concerns of women, and has contributed to a gender bias in the development and marketing of drugs and treatments. Hence there is a need to provide a convenient and discreet way for women to track and manage their health, which can be especially beneficial for those living in areas where access to healthcare is limited.
What it does
Our web application empowers women in advocating for their health, offering tailored guidance in an easy-to-understand format, and enhancing access to pain relief to enhance their overall wellbeing.
How we built it
The web application was created utilizing HTML/CSS/Javascript, with the backend implemented using the Flask framework in Python and database storage in MongoDB. User authentication was established with JWT, and an intelligent taskbot feature was developed using the OpenAI API.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into many challenges in integrating the frontend templates with our Flask APIs. After spending long hours in debugging our solution, we were able to successfully develop the application.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have created a key feature that offers support to users in an easy-to-understand manner. In a short time, we have encountered various tools and methods, and brainstormed numerous ideas to improve our solution.
What we learned
During this hackathon, we acquired new design thinking skills and methods that assisted us in determining the core features of our project story. We aimed to make our application user-friendly and captivating, all while staying true to its purpose.
What's next for Her Health Advocate
Her Health Advocate's priority is to educate users on various methods to manage stress and lead a healthy lifestyle. By incorporating wellness metrics, such as a balanced diet and physical activity, we intend to enhance user engagement.
