Inspiration
Incoming international students don't know what to prepare before they move across the country. For that reason, we want to create a website that give them resources, and a form to connect with other international students at UD to help them feel more prepared for their study abroad journey. Moreover, new students don't know what resources they have before they get to college and they are difficult to find due to the number of scattered websites and information on the internet-> overwhelming to look at and hard to approach, even to find basic information.
What it does
Connecting minority students with helpful resources before they get to college. Also giving optional applications to non-minorities or experienced students to be a part of those resources to help out.
How we built it
We built this with python for the code and a combination of css and html for the website!
Challenges we ran into
Trying to figure out a web interface to go along with our python code so it could actually be used was the major problem.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made the main piece of python code, and we learned how to do basic front end for our website. We made a pretty good plan for the future of it too.
What we learned
This isn't easy to make since most other code doesn't have an easy method for making web browsers.
What's next for UDiversity
Overall, we intend to grow each category of information, but more importantly we plan to make an open volunteer piece to it where new students will know where they can go to give helpful information or sign up to be mentors! We also do intend to connect the main code with the website as well of course.
