Inspiration
During COVID-19, we observed that hospitals struggled the most with oxygen and blood availability, especially plasma. Many hospitals lacked a fast and intelligent way to coordinate with nearby hospitals during emergencies.
Inspired by the idea that “A friend in need is a friend indeed,” we wanted to create a platform where hospitals could support each other like a connected chain of friendship.
What it does
HemoFlow AI is an AI-powered blood supply coordination platform that helps hospitals:
- raise blood requests
- coordinate transfers
- manage inventory
- approve or escalate requests
- receive AI-powered operational insights
The platform enables faster and smarter hospital coordination during critical situations.
How we built it
We built HemoFlow AI using:
- UiPath Apps
- UiPath Maestro BPMN
- UiPath AI Agents
- UiPath Data Service
- Human-in-the-Loop workflows
The system combines AI recommendations, workflow orchestration, transfer tracking, and inventory coordination into one centralized platform.
Challenges we ran into
We faced challenges integrating Apps, AI Agents, BPMN workflows, and operational data together smoothly.
Designing decentralized approval logic where one hospital’s rejection should not affect others was one of the most complex parts of the project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building:
- AI-powered operational recommendations
- BPMN-based approval orchestration
- decentralized hospital coordination
- transfer tracking workflows
- Human-in-the-Loop healthcare automation
Most importantly, we are proud that HemoFlow AI combines technology with humanity to help hospitals support each other during emergencies.
What we learned
We learned:
- Agentic AI orchestration
- BPMN workflow design
- enterprise automation architecture
- AI + Human-in-the-Loop integration
- healthcare operational coordination
What's next for HemoFlow AI
Future plans include:
- predictive shortage forecasting
