Inspiration

The second wave of covid has struck India hard. The situation is worse then its was last year. Moreover, A lot of problems is due to improper management and politics. There is not much focus given on health care logistics. We see a lot of startups which are working on delivery logistics. Currently, I saw a lot of people even my friends that where having trouble finding ICU beds for their mom and dad. A lot of people started sharing tweets with #Covidhelp and other hashtags. A lot of websites which came provided resources details only which were not updated.

In this situation it is better to have people information and providing a platform where helpers can see who needs help. There was no user based websites. That's where Help me comes.

What it does

It's a map based visualization of who needs help. If you want help, you can click the help me button and can fill a form. I want to remove the form and add a chatbot. which would make this process more easier.

How we built it

I started with scraping the twitter data with #covidHelp and other related hashtags. Although, i couldn't come up which a cleaned data and the dataset is huge. So instead i prototyped it with mock data. The idea was to make natural language processing bot which analysis the tweets, extract the informations such as patient's name, age, contact, location, medical condition.

It's a mobile first responsive website so that large number of people can access the information on who needs help. I used React, and ant design. The map is of open sourced library leaflet. Currently, it is showing mocked data.

Challenges we ran into

Working with the geolocation library. I didn't form a team. This would be my biggest mistake. Time constraint.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Decent enough UI. Good visualization of the patient's info. The project is scalable. I have not thought of it as a hackathon project but something that i want to deploy in production.

What I learned

Make a team - team work is important and finding people with the same mindset is crucial for any project to succeed in the long run.

Ask for help. Seriously i need to work on that.

What's next for Help Me
