Inspiration:
The current scenario in not only our nation, but the entire world has shocked everyone
But unlike others, we felt it was time to help society, even if it was through something small like our project idea
HelpLine. We hope that through Steel City Codes' platform, we will be able to put forth this idea at a large scale.
What it does:
HelpLine collects medical information from the patient and stores this data. On the basis of the symptoms the
patient is going through, the app recommends doctors, to help the patient, who are at a distance close to the
patient's residence. A more comprehensive answer to the functioning of the app is given in our presentation.
How we built it:
We decided to make a design idea rather than a piece of code. Although everyone in our team knows how to code
fluently in both java and HTML ,we decided to take one step at a time towards our goal and just clearly show case
our idea for HelpLine.
Challenges we ran into:
At first, we decided to make our project more coding oriented ,since Steel City Hacks is in fact a hackathon which
is basically coding but having heard if the design category, we decided, that rather than making a project that was
good and had a code along with it we could prepare a prototype design which would be excellent.
This decision changed our workflow and thought process. Another challenge was dividing the work, however, we
were able to co-operate with each other and do this.
Accomplishments that we're proud of:
Coming up with this design idea was a great learning process for our entire team. We completed the work within a
very short deadline .
We brainstormed several ideas, prepared for all of them and chose the best one which helped us compare the
general errors made by anyone in general and enabled us to select a better and more refined presentation
What we learned:
We learned a lot about the current scene with regards to the pandemic. We did a lot of research into the root
causes and aims to achieve a sustainable environment and society. We were required to think on a larger scale
and apply the theory learned in school to a practical use. It was indeed an enriching experience for our entire
team. We also learnt to collaborate together and co-operate.
What's next for HelpLine:
We plan to expand from Mumbai to Maharashtra to India to a global scale. We also plan to create an app based
on our design idea.
