Inspiration
I noticed that there are a lot of opportunities to volunteer on social media, but there are few places where both SU volunteer opportunities and Syracuse opportunties are on the same site on one database where you can scroll and find what you like.
What it does
It only displays a database of available volunteer opportunties
How we built it
I built the proejct using HTML and CSS. I also imported links from all over the internet and added it to my database.
Challenges we ran into
The site could not run a SQL server because I had issues setting it up in the cloud, so I made an HTML table that acts as a demo to a SQL table. There was also not enough time to add every volunteer opportunity so I added as many as I could.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I hosted a website from the ground up using Google Cloud and can be viewed
What I learned
I have learned how to install SQL and program via the cloud.
What's next for HelpingHands
Add search filtering, a SQL server backend that runs with PHP, make an HTTPS secure domain, and a much nicer design layout.
