Inspiration
In our society, numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) passionately strive to make a difference in the lives of those in need. These compassionate organizations aim to provide various forms of assistance to individuals who require help the most. However, their efforts are often hindered by a lack of funds or specific items necessary to address specific challenges.
NGOs heavily rely on the generosity of donors who are willing to contribute to social causes. These donors play a pivotal role in supporting the noble endeavors of these organizations. However, a significant challenge arises when NGOs find themselves in need of funds or specific resources for a particular purpose. Unfortunately, it is not always a seamless process to connect the right donors with the right NGOs. This mismatch in resource allocation can result in a scarcity of essential supplies, hindering the NGOs' ability to fulfill their mission of aiding those in dire circumstances.
The absence of effective communication and engagement between NGOs and the needy hampers the delivery of essential support and services.The lack of accessible information creates barriers, preventing individuals from connecting with relevant organizations. The existing challenges include the absence of a streamlined system for NGOs to register and showcase their services, limited visibility for those seeking assistance, and a lack of effective communication channels. This fragmentation hinders the ability to respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, natural disasters, and everyday crises faced by vulnerable populations.
What it does
To bridge the gap between the charitable intentions of individuals and the targeted needs of NGOs we have implemented a website which will enable individuals to determine which NGO is best suited for their donation based on factors like requirement, urgency, etc and create a comprehensive and efficient online platform that connects Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) with individuals and communities in need of essential resources such as food, clothing, and other basic necessities.
How we built it
Frontend - HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap Backend - Node.js, express.js, MongoDb
Challenges we ran into
We had a lot of trouble integrating the frontend with the backend but we managed it in the end.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
"search-by-state" - It was not a feature we initially planned on doing but we managed to implement it!
