**Inspiration**

One of our group members quickly remembered the unfortunate fates of the homeless and the fact that many of them simply didn't have a choice in the matter. It wasn't even that they made mistakes in their lives; just a stroke of unluck took a reign led them to lose all their money. To combat this and use what we had learned from the various workshops at SPP, we made a site to essentially lead the users to a live chatroom where the charity can hire representatives to talk with the users and answer their questions. Another link also leads to a charity that we think would benefit from this site, but in no way are we affiliated (it was also just used as a placeholder). All in all, we hoped that this project would aid in advertising a charity and helping answer the questions of those who may think of donating.

                                                                             **What it does**

The site essentially leads to a charity where the user can donate to a charity that the site is linked with. In this case, we made the Salvation Army a filler site for this purpose. There is also a separate link to a live chatroom, where you could ask questions to representatives of the charity site. If we give the charity links to the chatroom so that they can view questions and answer them live!

                                                                             **How I built it**

We first use what we learned in the HTML Workshop from SPP to make the site. Then we also followed the second workshop for Javascript and made a chatroom based on that. Since we are all beginner coders, I feel we did a phenomenal job!

                                                                       **Challenges I ran into**

The biggest issue that our group ran into was the time, as we only had three days to complete the task! Other than that, the coding process was a little tedious, as we needed to learn how to center images and structure the text. The chatroom was well taught, however, so that was a pretty easy task.

                                                               **Accomplishments that I'm proud of**

We are proud that as a group we completed this task in under 5 hours without any bugs to show! Furthermore, I feel that we might have aided a charity organization to have further support for their site. My group members also agree, and they had fun coding as well.

                                                                             **What I learned**

We learned two languages of coding: Javascript and HTML. Both of these languages were pretty scary at first, but after the workshops and a few tutorials online, we finally understood the basics of coding! It was honestly a very fun time and we hope that our site will be of use to people in the future. We also worked on how to work as a team and code a big project.

**What's next for Helping the Homeless**

We think if we had more experience and time as coders, we could make an actual chatroom, where we can give privileges to the owners in order to manage the chat. Furthermore, we could input in waiting rooms and various other plugins to enhance the quality of the chatroom. We hope that in the future Helping the Homeless can actually aid a charity!
