Inspiration:
We had many sources that inspired us, primarily, our parents and our mentor.
What it does:
We have conceptualized a platform that provides (1) awareness to our target segment (i.e., migrant commercial and domestic workers) about financial planning and products in the language of their choice, and (2) an opportunity for them to readily access relevant financial products in their home and / or host country.
How we built it:
We first discussed / brainstormed about potential ideas, and then zeroed in on this specific idea with the help of the mural. We discussed further with our parents and mentor, and then devised the potential platform and put it all together in the form of a logical presentation.
Challenges we ran into:
We are Grade 5 students, and this Hackathon was being conducted towards the end of our school term. It was challenging to collaborate after school hours and during the holidays.
What we learned:
To make our project better, we needed all of our team members to pitch in more. Also, someone in the team needs to take the initiative to put all the pieces together and deliver the project on time.
What's next for Helping the Helpers:
Work with the School and potential collaborators on the implementation of this idea. Launch Plan: Phase 1: Pilot test in a couple of Singapore Dormitories Phase 2: Launch in Singapore Phase 3: Launch worldwide
