Inspiration
I was inspired to make my project after spending countless hours researching and talking with both hackathon attendees and participants.
What it does
It compiles the most up to date hackathons for 2022 in Canada all in one place. A "one stop shop" for busy Canadian high school and university students.
How we built it
HTML, CSS, Inkscape, GitHub, OBS Studio, Shotcut. Nothing too technical, mainly for the usage of such a site.
Challenges we ran into
My first time using HTML / CSS in a very, very long time. Had to essentially learn it from scratch. Also wasn't able to make the website dynamic and perform certain cool functions in time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Was able to host the website, my first time doing so! Created something that I think will be useful for some students. Am really proud that I learned how to use Inkscape, which I think is an invaluable tool in graphics design. My project costed 0 dollars yet likely has some use for the future.
What we learned
Learned how website hosting works and how GitHub can help me host a webpage for free. Learned HTML and CSS basics again. Was able to learn about the numerous hackathons in Canada, and be proud of what other Canadians have accomplished.
What's next for Helping students find hackathons
Perhaps make the website have a few more useful functions such as a database or a search algorithm.
