Inspiration

We all enjoy volunteering and have a desire to actively engage with and give back to our local Chapel Hill community! However, we all found it difficult to find the time and resources to get as involved as we would like to on top of being a busy student. We all were interested in creating a platform that would easily link students and other Chapel Hill community members to volunteer organizations within our own community.

What it does

The main page has four different webpages, including volunteer opportunities surrounding Animals, Education, Healthcare, and the Homeless in our community.

How we built it

We built the website pages using individual HTML files and created a CSS style sheet.

Challenges we ran into

It was all of our first times participating in a hackathon, so it was a challenge to get started and to figure out the direction we wanted to head in.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

None of us had much previous experience with coding in HTML or CSS so this was definitely a great learning experience for us. We were proud that we were able to implement multiple webpages onto our site and discover many great organizations within our local community.

What we learned

We were fortunate to find a project that we were all so passionate about- making it easy for us to all be dedicated to learning how to use HTML and CSS! We were all able to step outside of our comfort zones and create this webpage.

What's next for Helping Heels

We hope to implement a forum page where people are able to actively engage with each other and discuss their volunteering experiences.
